Along the Gordon River Road, southwestern Tasmania

Spectacular scenery in Mount Field National Park, with its nature walks to Russell Falls, its tall swamp gum trees, and Lake Dobson, an Alpine lake with its tall tree ferns; along the high road to Lake Pedder, once a glacial lake but drowned under 15 metres of water when it was dammed in 1972 and became a man-made lake; further on is Lake Gordon, a man-made reservoir contained by the Gordon Dam and the hydro-electric power station.
